Workshop Overview/Description
IEEE Hive @ TEMSCON 2026: Venture Lab is a structured, hands-on workshop designed for students and young professionals (YPs) attending TEMSCON Global 2026. Modelled after the IEEE Hive framework — a comprehensive platform designed to support leadership development of students and technology professionals, offering hands-on professional skills training, and immersive team activities, this event brings that format squarely into the domain of IEEE TEMS by focusing on technology entrepreneurship and engineering management.
By the end of Venture Lab, participants will be able to understand the fundamentals of customer discovery, market validation, and new venture strategy. Craft a clear and compelling value proposition grounded in real customer needs. Design and deliver a structured, confident elevator pitch. Initiate early-stage fundraising conversations with investors. Apply these skills collaboratively under time pressure using a real-world problem statement.
Participants will move through a structured Learn → Apply → Pitch arc: receiving expert-led lectures on entrepreneurship fundamentals, then working in teams to solve a real-world problem statement using the knowledge acquired and finally presenting their ventures to experienced startup professionals. The session is designed to be practical, and immersive, equipping participants with the mindset and tools to move from concept to a market-ready opportunity.
